SNAKEOUT™ helps keep your dogs safe through our Canine Rattlesnake Aversion Training. While canines are commonly considered to be man's best friend, the reality is canines and rattlesnakes do not mix well in nature. If you reside or travel in an area with a dense population of rattlesnakes, rattlesnake avoidance training should be implemented throughout the year on a semi-regular schedule.
Our process is such that we will place the snake(s) in a pre-planned area within your home, property or known to travel area (trails, parks, ect). We then let the dog approach the snakes. Through use of an electronic collars we send a signal to your dog to stop at a certain point leading up to the area where the rattlesnake is placed. The idea is that your dog will come to understand that the snakes are not fun to be around, and to stay a ‘safe distance’ away from any rattlesnakes they encounter in their daily lives. We utilize electronic collars with a shock or vibration setting, along with positive reinforcement to teach the dogs that snakes are not fun and avoiding the snakes is good. We take the class slow during our lessons to make sure the dog is receiving the information, while not over stressing. We do the minimum about of electronic collar stimulation that will keep the dog from wanting to play with/hunt the snakes. We want to always have the best results with all dogs we work with. During our Canine Rattlesnake Aversion Training we will also take steps to educate your dog to avoid the smell of live snakes, snake fecal and the shed skins of a rattlesnake. We also will analyze the dog's response and explain how to best work with your dog going forward when living in or around snake areas.

NOTE:As of Sept 2023, according to CDFW representatives, only albino rattlesnakes can be used in the class with dogs. We would ideally like to use normal colored snakes, but CDFW has stated that it is against the law for classes to use native snakes that are not albino. However, multiple dog training and behavior companies were consulted on this change and say that due to the lacking color vision of dogs, the change in color should NOT have an overall negative effect on the class.
